AmeriPride Services Inc., Minnetonka, MN, recently announced that it’s acquiring Wood City Laundry in Cloquet, MN, which suffered a fire several weeks ago and was receiving assistance from the larger competitor.

“AmeriPride has been serving area businesses for more than 100 years, and this acquisition provides a great opportunity to expand our market share in the area, while introducing new products and services to customers,” said John Sutherland, SVP of operations. “We feel this is a nice fit for our business and our new customers and a great opportunity for everyone involved.”

The two companies are now in the midst of transitioning the business to AmeriPride, according to a news release. As part of the agreement, Wood City Laundry owner Gary Tyman is joining the AmeriPride team and will continue building and maintaining his longstanding customer relationships, the release said.

“The support AmeriPride provided us during our crisis helped us determine that they are the right company to take care of our customers in the future,” said Tyman. “AmeriPride is a strong family-owned business that shares our values, and we feel confident that our customers will continue to receive great service.”

Dave Hardy, the AmeriPride manager who has overseen service for Wood City Laundry’s customers since the February fire, agreed. “I am very confident in our ability to successfully support our new customers,” said Hardy, who is general manager for AmeriPride’s Hibbing Branch and Duluth service center. “Our Hibbing production facility has the capacity and resources to take on the additional volume, and we are eager to incorporate the new customers into our business.”
