AmeriPride’s Clean Green Certification Elevates Textile Services Competitiveness – 2/28/14

AmeriPride Services Inc., Minnetonka, MN, recently announced that it has met the requirements necessary to certify its operations with TRSA’s Clean Green® program for environmental conservation.

“This achievement demonstrates our commitment to the environment, while maintaining the highest quality in laundered products for our customers,” said Brian Keegan, senior vice president of plant operations for AmeriPride and Canadian Linen. “Our customers care about sustainability, and so do we. This new Clean Green designation spans our North American facilities and is an important step forward for our business and the communities where we operate.”

The Clean Green designation means that AmeriPride’s production facilities meet TRSA’s international standard for achieving efficiencies in water and energy conservation and adopting best-management practices for reusing, reclaiming and recycling resources, according to a news release.

Certifying as Clean Green offers companies a third-party verification that the uniforms, linens, mats, towels and other reusable textiles a company processes are laundered in an environmentally friendly manner. Clean Green is the only industry certification that quantifies the environmental sustainability of commercial laundries, the release said.

To achieve this certification, a commercial laundry must comply with water and energy standards and demonstrate best-management practices. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving water via reuse systems, using environmentally friendly detergents, filtering wastewater before discharging it to the sewer, utilizing energy-efficient lighting and more.

TRSA President and CEO Joseph Ricci praised AmeriPride’s Feb. 19 announcement that the company had qualified for the Clean Green certification. “Congratulations to AmeriPride for achieving this industry milestone and for their dedication to preserving our natural resources,” Ricci said. “Laundry customers who choose AmeriPride can feel confident in the knowledge that their products are washed, dried and finished in a manner that meets the highest standards and helps protect the environment.”

AmeriPride operates 29 production facilities across the United States and another 16 in Canada. Click here for details on the company’s Clean Green certification.
