AmeriPride Services Inc. recently announced that later this year it will take delivery of 21 Ford F-59 trucks featuring XL Hybrid’s XL3® Hybrid Electric Drive System, according to a news release. AmeriPride, a leader in sustainable technology in textile services, will use the hybrid-electric F-59 trucks for uniform rental and linen supply deliveries in metropolitan markets, including cities in Minnesota and Arizona.

“Adding hybrid electronic technology to our fleet allows us to reduce AmeriPride’s carbon footprint and save money,” said Banny Allison, fleet services manager at AmeriPride Services. “Our pilot programs using hybrid electric technology have been successful and we want to continue incorporating alternative fuels into our fleet to become more sustainable. XL Hybrids has been a great partner to help us transform our company and the industry.” Click here for details.

AmeriPride’s efforts on the sustainability front haven’t gone unrecognized. The company has earned TRSA’s Clean Green certification and, more recently was named for the third consecutive year to the “Top 50 Green Fleets List” compiled by Heavy Duty Trucking magazine and its website www.truckinginfo.com.

The list recognizes companies that have made a commitment to fleet sustainability, alternative fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.

“We are very pleased to be recognized for our efforts to be more sustainable in our fleet operations,” said Brian Keegan, safety and sustainability officer at AmeriPride. “This honor is due in no small part to our fleet team’s hard work and persistence in identifying opportunities and implementing alternative fuel technologies into our operations.”

To be considered for the list, AmeriPride provided information about its fleet initiatives, alternative-fuel use and its participation in SmartWay, a U.S. EPA program that encourages fleets to pursue environmentally friendly logistics practices. AmeriPride received a certificate of recognition from the magazine and is featured in a November cover article in Heavy Duty Trucking. Click here for details.
