Australian Ex-TRSA Board Member Passes On

John Bishop, a former group general manager of laundries for Spotless Facility Services Pty Ltd, Melbourne, Australia, passed away on Oct. 9, according to a company announcement. He retired in 2011 and served on TRSA’s board of directors from 2008-’11.

Bishop started in n May 1979 with Ensign in the SA Sales Team. Over the years, he held senior posts in Spotless laundries and other business sectors in nearly all the Australian states.

In 2007, Bishop advanced to the post of group general manager, which he held though retirement.

During this period, he oversaw the completion of the company’s Brisbane composite laundry plant, while also directing the strong growth of the total laundry business.

“John had a keen eye for business development and a great proactive ‘do it now’ attitude,” said CEO Martin Sheppard in the announcement. “He had a heart of gold for his staff and team, a quick wit and sharp mind and was a very passionate AFL Collingwood supporter (an Australian football team).

“John was a legend throughout Spotless and will be sadly missed by all who have worked with him over the many years.”

Funeral services are planned for Friday, Oct. 21.
