Cintas Corp. recently announced that its uniform rental plant in Culpeper, VA, has received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). VPP Star is the highest recognition OSHA gives to companies for the practice of, and commitment to, excellence in occupational safety and health.

“We are extremely proud of our Culpeper employee-partners and their managers for earning the esteemed OSHA VPP Star Award,” said Rick Gerlach, sr. director of safety and health, in a news release. “In order to earn this recognition, our management and front-line partners worked closely together toward the common goal of every partner going home to their loved ones at the end of the work day safe and healthy. Our partners look forward to mentoring neighborhood companies to protect the safety and health of their employees and achieve safety excellence.”

The Culpeper plant is the 26th Cintas facility in the U.S. to receive the VPP Star designation since 2011. The Culpeper facility is also one of Cintas’ largest plants. Cintas currently is tied for 11th place in the U.S. for its combined number of VPP-certified facilities. The designation requires ongoing training, rigorous audits and collaboration between managers and employee-partners.

“We would not be here today without every employee-partner in Culpeper,” said Ken Greenfield, general manager of the plant. “We now have a culture where safety is driven by the front line and safety is instinctive.”
