AmeriPride Services Inc. reaffirmed its dedication to enhance efficiencies in its plants, delivery fleets and headquarters, on Earth Day (April 22), according to a news release.

Based in Minnetonka, MN, the company uses environmentally sustainable best practices across its entire organization, including its Canadian Linen and Uniform Service operations. “We pride ourselves on clean operations and a strong sense of responsibility to the communities in which we operate,” said Brian Keegan, sr. vice president of plant operations and supply chain.

Many of its U.S. and Canadian plants feature reclamation equipment that captures heat energy used in boilers, ironers and dryers and recycles it back into those processes. Among its fleet initiatives, most diesel engine vehicles have idle shut off, and many cargo vans have been replaced with fuel-efficient hybrid sedans. Aerodynamic skirting on trailers and double-decker trailers has increased carrying capacity. Rerouting of service center routes also has reduced mileage, thus saving fuel. Energy-conservation features at corporate headquarters include a hot aisle containment system that monitors and contains heat generated by data center servers. AmeriPride has since cut its energy consumption there by 50%.

AmeriPride has a long history of eco-friendly laundering: it uses only NPE-free detergents, recycles towels and linens and was one of the first companies to implement the industry’s voluntary Environmental Stewardship Program (Laundry ESP). The company also received TRSA’s ‘Clean Green’ certification earlier this year.

“Our dedication to the environment and investment in environmentally sustainable operations, including several exciting pilot programs we’re currently working on, also often translates into cost savings and more efficient service for our valued customers,” said Keegan.
