G&K Services, Minnetonka, MN, recently announced that its workwear manufacturing plant in the Dominican Republic has earned a Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) Gold Certificate of Compliance.

That means that the plant has demonstrated compliance with the WRAP principles, which are based on local laws and regulations, as well as generally accepted international workplace standards coupled with a commitment to workplace safety and environmental conservation. The plant manufactures 3 million pieces of workwear annually for G&K’s uniform rental and direct-sale businesses.

“Our entire team made a concentrated effort to earn the WRAP certification,” said Dick Stutz, senior vice president of operations and sourcing. “Achieving this recognition demonstrates G&K’s commitment to ethical behavior, workplace safety and environmental stewardship. This is an important facility for G&K and the high-quality uniforms that our team in the Dominican Republic produces are a key part of our ability to meet our customers’ needs.”

WRAP is an independent, objective, nonprofit team of global social compliance experts dedicated to promoting safe, lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing worldwide through certification and education. To earn WRAP certification, facilities must undergo a rigorous self-assessment. Then they must undergo auditing by an independent third-party monitoring company.
