With growth comes challenges and Hospital Central Services Inc. & Affiliates (HCSC), a healthcare laundry and services group serving healthcare providers in the Mid-Atlantic Region, is upgrading its services to do just that, according to a recent report in local news media.

Peter J. Castagna Jr., president and CEO of HCSC, based in Allentown, PA, weighed in on several key issues facing healthcare providers and their service partners in an online Q&A article that appeared in Lehigh Valley Business.

As for the group’s growth since its incorporation in 1967 as a provider of laundry services to nonprofit hospitals in the Lehigh Valley, Castagna credited HCSC’s growth to its ongoing emphasis on customer service and satisfaction. “We continue to believe that the key to success begins with listening to our customers and providing unparalleled service and response,” he said.

HCSC currently provides linen rental services to more than 130 hospitals and 1,000 ambulatory care centers in several states, including New Jersey and Maryland, as well as Pennsylvania. As healthcare services have burgeoned across the region, HCSC has grown with its customer base, he said. For example, last year, HCSC completed a $12 million expansion of its Allentown laundry. It’s also continuing to build out a new ambulatory-care staging and distribution facility in an industrial park located near the Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown.
