IAHTM White Paper Touts Co-ops

IAHTM recently released a white paper on how to run efficient co-op laundries.

As hospital executives look for cost efficiencies, they are reviewing options for securing laundry services. An association of hospital co-ops, IAHTM presents an overview of today’s options, including OPLs, COGs, commercial/rental, shared or cooperative.

It also examines laundry management structures, as well as key decision-making factors, including control, quality and service, and costs. This white paper says central or cooperative laundries are well positioned competitively over other types of services. Co-ops can address challenges specific to the healthcare industry. These include meeting the standards for controlling infection, managing linen use and controlling loss, as well as meeting special requests for specific goods (such as surgical packs). Co-ops, often nonprofit, can provide healthcare institutions with considerable cost and service benefits, the white paper says.
