TRSA operator member ImageFIRST, King of Prussia, PA, recently recognized a staff member that assisted police in rescuing a kidnapped baby. The associate, who is employed at ImageFIRST’s Los Angeles location, witnessed the incident taking place and intervened to help, according to a news release.

The incident occurred on Sept. 28 in San Diego. Local police confirmed that the father of a two-month-old baby seized the infant from his mother in Balboa Park. The father then held off officers with a knife and escaped.

The ImageFIRST associate, Ivan Garcia, helped to de-escalate the situation. After witnessing the kidnapping, he followed the father for over an hour, constantly communicating his position to police over the phone. Garcia gained the man’s trust and calmed him down, giving the police enough time to arrive and arrest the man. No one involved in the incident was injured.

“Safety is one of our core values, both as individuals and as a company,” Garcia said. “At that moment, all I could think about was what I would want someone in that situation to do if that were one of my kids. I knew I had to do the right thing.”

ImageFIRST Healthcare Laundry Specialists’ company purpose is to build a great company by positively impacting the lives of its associates, community, customers and patients. This purpose extends itself from the workplace to the surrounding community, as demonstrated by Ivan Garcia.
