Company’s Leeds, AL, facility has registered seven years without a lost-time accident

M&B Hangers recently commemorated seven years without a lost-time accident at its Leeds, AL, facility. In 2013, the company has had zero recordable incidents, according to President Milton Magnus.

M&B’s HR Director Darlene Yarborough communicates the company’s safety culture to new associate hires and continually stresses workplace safety. Yarborough coordinates the safety committee that meets on a monthly basis.

“Years ago, we thought that accidents had to happen,” Magnus said. “Today, the entire culture has changed and we believe that accidents don’t have to happen, and we enforce that in everything we do. As president of M&B, I am very proud of what Darlene and all of our associates have accomplished.”

To celebrate the safety milestone, all associates were treated to a barbecue meal on May 2. The company also plans to honor all of its associates at M&B’s annual picnic, scheduled for May 18 at the Birmingham Zoo.

This is another shining example of the commitment by the textile services industry and its suppliers to safe operations. For more information on workplace safety, attend TRSA’s Safety Summit scheduled for May 21-22 in Indianapolis. Visit www.trsa.org/safetysummit for details and to register.
