Continuing TRSA’s successful congressional outreach, U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) visited the Cintas plant in Ashland, KY.  Rep. Massie’s visit is the seventh congressional tour TRSA has arranged this year, giving plant employees an opportunity to meet face to face with their representatives and introduce the linen, uniform and facility services industry to a member of Congress from an “on-the-ground” perspective.

TRSA coordinated the visit with Eric Darnley, general manager of the plant, after working closely with the congressman in Washington, DC.  Rep. Massie emphasized the importance of the industry getting involved in the public policy process and recognized TRSA efforts.  “As the only organization representing the textile services industry, TRSA’s efforts to reach out to congressional members is highly effective and important,” said Massie of the association.

Chris Varney, plant manager, gave Rep. Massie a personalized tour of the facility, showing him the laundry process from sorting to delivery. The congressman also met and spoke with Cintas staff on the laundry floor. After the tour, Rep. Massie addressed the staff with a question and answer period.  During that time, Rep. Massie discussed the national debt and answered questions about tax reform, healthcare reform and Social Security.  The congressman was impressed with the facility, located in the eastern part of the Bluegrass State. The tour also increased his knowledge of the linen, uniform and facility services industry.
