Sander to Step Down at JSG

Chris Sander, CEO of Johnson Service Group, addressed TRSA members earlier this year at the association's Leadership & Legislative Conference at the Gaylord National Resort & Conference Center, just outside Washington, DC.

Johnson Service Group (JSG), Cheshire, England, recently announced that after 33 years with the company, CEO Chris Sander has notified the company’s board of directors of his intention to retire from JSG in the first half of 2018, according to a news release.

“This has been one of the most difficult decisions that I have had to make in my career as JSG has been part of my life for over 33 years,” Sander said. “However, I will be retiring at a time when the Group is in excellent shape and very well-placed for continued growth. My successor will inherit a strong management team and devoted employees. Their talents and efforts have been the bedrock of JSG’s success.”

As a result of this announcement, JSG’s board started a detailed process, both internally and externally, to identify a successor who will continue Johnson Service Group’s growth strategy. In order to ensure a smooth succession, Sander remains flexible over the date of his retirement in the first half of 2018, and will remain available to assist his successor in the initial handover period. A further announcement regarding succession will be made when details become finalized.

The Group has grown significantly in recent years, enlarging its presence geographically and building its position in chosen markets. JSG provides linen, uniform and facility services across the UK. Through its Apparelmaster brand, JSG is the leading supplier of workwear and protective wear in the UK, clothing more than 1.3 million people a week. Through its Stalbridge, London Linen, Bourne, Afonwen and PLS brands, Johnson Service Group also provides premium linen services for the hotel, catering and hospitality markets, and high-volume hotel linen services, processing approximately 8 million items a week.
