In a major move among textile manufacturers – especially the makers of linen and terry products – Sobel Westex recently announced an agreement to acquire Baltic Linen Co. Inc., according to a news release.

The acquisition has made Las Vegas-based Sobel Westex one of the world’s largest textile companies, the release said. “Baltic, a trendsetter in the retail and hospitality textile sectors, will propel Sobel Westex to the top of the market, solidifying both our position and brand in the textile industry across our market segments,” said Walter Pelaez, CEO of Sobel Westex. “This transaction will create a leading textile company that is differentiated by its ability to deliver cutting-edge products by using an unparalleled global infrastructure of inventory and distribution capabilities to service our customers worldwide.”

Baltic CEO Frank Greenberg, Lake Success, NY, also applauded the agreement. “We are proud of our decision to join forces with Sobel Westex and deliver the expertise of both companies’ vast knowledge of the marketplace,” said Greenberg.

The acquisition joins two companies to create a U.S.-based global enterprise that will be highly competitive in all textile sectors, the release said. Click here for details.
