Target Tax Cut – Texas Legislative Conference

Posted February 17, 2017 at 1:51 pm

TRSA is hosting a Texas Legislative Conference on March 7-8 in Austin, TX at the Intercontinental (701 Congress Ave.) to highlight the industry’s efforts to amend the Texas franchise tax for commercial laundries. There’s no cost to attend.

Join linen, uniform and facility services companies from across the Lone Star State. The only cost to you is travel and hotel. If successful, the industry’s franchise tax in Texas would drop by 50% and the cost-savings to Signature Garment Care would be almost immediate. Your active participation is necessary to obtain the necessary subject-matter guidance and demonstrate the industry’s support for this initiative. If you cannot attend, please send a representative from your plant.

TRSA Texas Legislative Conference:

DATE: March 7 & 8, 2016
LOCATION: The Intercontinental 701 Congress Ave., Austin, Texas 78701

In an effort to give you flexibility, we don’t have a hotel room block, so you can stay wherever you feel most comfortable. However, TRSA has a room rate of $284 per night at the Intercontinental; this will allow you to stay in the same hotel as the meeting. To get the rate attendees will need, call Rosie Muguerza at 512.721.4223 or Justin Malone (512.721.4230) directly to make reservations.

To minimize time away from your plant, we’ve developed the following agenda:

Tuesday, March 7
2:00pm – 5:00pm     General/Orientation Session
5:30pm – 7:00pm     Legislative Reception – we will invite legislators to attend this reception to introduce the industry
Wednesday, March 8
8:30am – 9:30am      Breakfast
9:30am – 11:30am    Legislator Visits
12:00pm – 1:00pm    Debrief Lunch
1:00pm                    Adjourn

To give you an overview of the franchise tax issue, we will have an orientation session to bring you up to speed to be able to talk to your legislator and get their support. We’ll also go over how to “lobby” your representative and what’s expected. That evening, state legislators will be invited to the reception to give you an opportunity to get to know them in a relaxed setting.

We’ll go over any last-minute questions at the Breakfast on March 8. Then you will go to the State Capital to meet with your local representative to encourage their support for the industry. After the meetings, we’ll have a Debrief Lunch to discuss any information gathered and next steps, then adjourn.

Your attendance is imperative! While TRSA and Ryan Public Affairs are leading the process, Texans must make the industry’s case. Whether you’re an independent owner or the General Manager of a national company – your participation is required for success.

If you have any questions or cannot attend, please contact TRSA’s Vice President of Government Relations Kevin Schwalb at 703-519-0029, ext. 107 or kschwalb@trsa.org.
