TRSA Members Make ‘Selling Power’ Top 50

The September issue of Selling Power magazine includes the publication’s 17th annual listing of America’s “50 Best Companies to Sell For.” As in past years, the 2017 list includes several TRSA members, including:

  • No. 22: Cintas Corp.
  • No. 27 Aramark
  • No. 31 Ecolab
  • No. 34 UniFirst Corp.

It’s worth noting that all four of these companies outscored several well-known businesses, including DHL Global Forwarding (No. 42), Google (No. 43) and Microsoft (No. 47). The magazine’s selection of winning companies is based on an application from companies with sales forces ranging from fewer than 100 to several thousand, according to an article on the competition in the September issue. This year’s “revised and expanded application” included detailed sections covering three broad categories:

  1. Compensation and Benefits
  2. Hiring, Sales Training and Sales Enablement
  3. Customer Retention

For each broad category, Selling Power applies proprietary scoring systems for each segment, the article said. For example, on the issue of sales contests, companies are asked not only if they held such competitions, but how frequently they occurred.

In a comment on the “sales enabling” aspect of the application, David Katz, UniFirst senior vice president for sales and marketing, noted that, “We know the importance of empowering our sales teams with a sense of satisfaction, pride and contentment to help them achieve desired results. After all, their success is UniFirst’s success."
