Washing Systems, Cincinnati, recently announced that its new BLS-2 Microbiological Lab has earned accreditation to the ISO 17025 standard through the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation, according to a news release.

The lab, staffed by a full-time microbiologist and chemical engineers, will provide customers with several added benefits, including the ability to quickly verify the hygienic cleanliness of textiles, demonstrate complete removal of harmful pathogens and apply standards from TRSA’s Hygienically Clean Certification program. The lab was designed in part to support commercial or institutional laundries that are pursuing Hygienically Clean Certification, said Washing Systems’ Ben Fisher.

The program requires testing by TRSA-approved independent labs to finalize certification, but chemical vendors often play a critical role in helping laundries prepare to meet the requirements of the standard.
