Committees Address Customer Markets
Feedback from top executives of textile services companies indicates need to address specialists' concerns
TRSA facilitates CEO Roundtables to encourage networking between senior executives whose companies specialize in serving particular customer market segments. In 2011, nearly 75 CEOs and owner/operators from the nation’s leading national and independent operations participated. While many industry-specific issues were discussed, five important cross-market objectives were identified that represent significant issues for the industry and TRSA, including:
1. Proactive Outreach– Marketing and promoting reusable textiles and the textile services industry directly to consumers promoting value, sustainability and hygiene
2. Establish Best Practices– Developing and disseminating industry “best practices” and standards for safety, productivity, performance measurement, sustainability, hygiene and operations
3. Innovation– Facilitating collaboration among operators and associates to create industry-wide emphasis on innovation, i.e., machinery, products and services
4. Benchmarking and Research– Investing in developing enhanced benchmarking for niche markets and research that supports reusable textile sustainability and value propositions
5. Advocacy– Continuing representing the interests of the textile services community with state, federal and municipal regulators and defending reusable textiles
To build upon these market-driven discussions and address these objectives, TRSA established three new Committees to further support market-specific processing by developing educational content, training materials, networking and benchmarking initiatives. The new Committees are:
- Independent Industrial
- Hospitality/Lodging
- Restaurant/F&B
These new Committees were set to meet for the first time, along with TRSA’s existing working Committees, during the TRSA Legislative/Leadership Conference, March 26-28, 2012 at the Gaylord National Harbor in Washington, DC. The Conference is an excellent opportunity to get your management team engaged in the industry, network with colleagues and help TRSA educate regulators and legislators regarding the value of textile services.
All operators are encouraged to serve and designate internal management representatives to serve on TRSA’s working committees. Committee participation helps develop tomorrow’s industry leaders and leverages our industry’s combined resources and knowledge for the good of the reusable textiles community.
Other existing TRSA Committees include:
- Education
- Environmental Issues
- Government Affairs
- Healthcare
- Marketing/PR
- Membership
- Plant Operations
- Safety/Human Resources
Committees provide the Board of Directors and staff subject matter expertise and represent the interests of their area of responsibility regarding products, services and new initiatives that increase productivity, improve efficiencies and positively impact profitability including educational program content, training materials, benchmarking, research and other resources.
Anyone interested in serving on the new or existing Committees should contact Joseph Ricci (jricci@TRSA.org) or Salita Jones (sjones@trsa.org), thank you.
