After hosting a luncheon for certification program users earlier in the day, TRSA continued with this theme for its education session on the Clean Show exhibit floor, as Bob Corfield, CEO, Laundry Design Group, gave attendees an overview of TRSA’s Clean Green and Hygienically Clean certification programs.

TRSA offers the following certification programs:

  • Clean Green
  • Hygienically Clean Healthcare
  • Hygienically Clean Food Safety
  • Hygienically Clean Food Service
  • Hygienically Clean Hospitality

Corfield walked attendees through the requirements necessary for companies to achieve each of these certifications, and the differences between the programs. For the past five years, Corfield has performed plant inspections for both Clean Green and Hygienically Clean, so he has a unique knowledge of both programs.

Corfield had this advice for those linen, uniform and facility services companies seeking certification. “Do not overthink this. Take your processes, what you currently do, and incorporate that into your work policies and procedures. Do not think that you have to achieve something, unless something that you’re doing is not giving you the results you need. For example, if your samples are not passing, you need to work on your wash formulas. If you have identified points of contamination or recontamination in your laundry, where your touch points on a surface are contaminating linen, then we need better housekeeping. So you need to make some decisions if you want to assess your critical areas, then you make a decision on how often you’re going to work on those areas.”
