TRSA recently held a webinar titled, “Managing OSHA Inspections,” hosted by Andrea Skilinksi, Clarus Linen Systems; Rick Gerlach, Cintas Corp.; and Leah Boyd, Washing Systems LLC. More than 100 textile services industry executives registered to listen in on the informative discussion.

The hour-long presentation kicked off with a “guided tour” of TRSA’s “Managing OSHA Inspections” DVD, a 28-minute video that helps laundry facility owners, operators and managers understand how to prepare their operations and successfully navigate an on-site facility inspection by OSHA.

The next topic the webinar focused on was TRSA’s annual Textile Services Industry Safety Report, which provides membershipwide statistics that enable TRSA companies to easily compare their safety improvements to the industry norm and foster further gains. Several charts and graphs featuring data from the study were presented during the webinar. The conclusion: overall, TRSA member companies are safer than the uniform rental and linen industry as a whole.

The webinar wrapped up with an explanation of the blending of the Global Harmonization Standard (GHS) requirements into OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard. Upcoming compliance dates include:

  • June 1, 2015: compliance with all provisions of the rule
  • Dec. 1, 2015: distributors must ship only GHS labels
  • June 1, 2016: update alternative workplace labeling and hazard communication program

The next TRSA webinar presentation, “Engaging a Multi-Generational Workforce,” is scheduled for Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. ET.
