TRSA recently recognized Mike Lang of Unitex/Med-Apparel Services, for his role on a task force that on Dec. 3 announced the completion of an educational video titled The Six C’s: Handling Soiled Linen in a Healthcare Environment.

Lang, a process analyst with the Mt. Vernon, NY-based healthcare launderer, received a gift from TRSA in the form of an ergonomically designed “stand-up” desk that allows the user to work either standing or sitting.

The Handling Soiled Linen in a Healthcare Environment task force that prepared the video (now available on request to TRSA members and healthcare providers) began work earlier this year and was itself a spinoff of an earlier task group focused on linen-loss prevention. David Stern, president and CEO of Paris Cos. and a participant on both task forces, commended Lang for his contributions to the video, particularly his creative input.

“Mike Lang joined the task force of the linen loss ad hoc committee that was driving the educational video,” Stern said. “He spent a lot of time helping structure the video and was responsible for using the catchy title ‘The Six C’s.’ His commitment to the project was remarkable.”

TRSA President and CEO Joseph Ricci also praised Lang and the entire committee for its work. The new video is now helping to educate healthcare providers on the proper handling of soiled linens. “This video is an important tool that laundries can use to assist hospitals in ensuring the safe handling of healthcare linens,” he said. “At the same time, it teaches basic rules that can help hospital staff reduce linen losses. We’re grateful for the work of Mike Lang and all those who contributed to this project.” Click here for more information or to request a copy of the video.

In an e-mail to Ricci, Lang thanked TRSA for the desk and noted that it required virtually no assembly. “The desk is all set up and it’s much more effective than my old system,” he said. “I love how it was straight-out-of-the-box ready! Thanks again!”

In addition to Stern, other task force members included:

  • Dan Leavy, Emerald Textiles
  • Judy Reino, Reino Linen Service
  • Rick Kislia, Crescent Laundry
  • Eddie Lefaux, Westport Linen Services
  • Lynn Moreau, HandCraft Linen Services
  • Liz Remillong, Crothall Laundry Services
