Representatives from each of the five Clean Show sponsoring associations gathered at a June 21 news conference to discuss the future of the show, including its location for the next three shows and an ongoing discussion about the length of the show.

Members of the Clean Executive Committee in attendance at the news conference included:

  • Joseph Ricci, TRSA president & CEO
  • David Cotter, TCATA CEO
  • Brian Wallace, CLA president & CEO
  • Mary Scalco, DLI CEO
  • Linda Fairbanks, ALM Executive Director

The committee opened the news conference with a discussion of the show’s three-day format. “It’s something we’re experimenting with that was done in reaction to a large number of exhibitors that wanted us to try that,” said Cotter, the chairman of the committee. “It’s an experiment; we’re going to see how it goes. After the show, we’re going to survey folks to see what everybody thought, and we’ll see if we’re going to continue in that vein, or perhaps go back to the four-day show.”

Exhibitors and attendees will be surveyed after the conclusion of the show to determine if there is a consensus on whether the three-day format was popular with those in attendance. The decision to continue with the three-day format, or revert to four days will be made “very soon,” Cotter said.

The show also featured a look ahead to its next host city, Atlanta in April 2015. Cookie Smoak, director of convention services for the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, gave a presentation that showed recent developments that have taken place in Atlanta. She highlighted the meeting spaces, attractions and restaurants that will make the venue attractive to attendees of the next Clean Show. Following Atlanta in 2015, the show will return to Las Vegas in 2017, and a letter of intent was signed to return to New Orleans in 2019.

Other topics of discussion included:

  • The Clean Show’s networking rules change
  • Clean Show app
  • An interactive Twitter feed setup on the show floor
