TRSA Vice President of Government Relations & Certification Kevin Schwalb and representatives from TRSA’s Healthcare Committee including Mike Lang, Unitex; and Liz Remillong, Crothall, will present sessions on Workwear in Healthcare: Linen Loss and Hidden Health Dangers and the Emerging Long-Term Care Market at the American Reusable Textile Association (ARTA) 2018 Education Conference scheduled for July 25-27 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Executive Committee of TRSA’s Board of Directors has unanimously approved the nomination of Steve Larson, Alsco Inc., to receive the association’s highest honor, the TRSA Operator Lifetime Achievement Award. Larson will receive his award during the Annual Awards Dinner on Oct. 17, in conjunction with the TRSA Annual Conference at the Meritage Resort & Spa, Napa, CA.

Due largely to outreach efforts by TRSA, the California State Assembly recently voted down AB 2379 (the polyester bill) introduced by Assembly Member Richard Bloom (D-Santa Monica), thus killing the legislation.

TRSA’s efforts to reform California’s Title 22 regulation that regulates the laundering of healthcare linen took another step forward recently when it passed in a unanimous vote out of the California State Senate Committee on Health. Even better, the bill was amended to allow TRSA operators flexibility in processing healthcare linens until the California Department of Health (CDH) updates the regulation. AB 2679, authored by Assembly Member Patrick O’Donnell (D-Long Beach), directs CDH to reform the outdated prescriptive method of laundering healthcare linens to include more modern, effective and efficient methods.

California Gov. Jerry Brown’s (D) office, in conjunction with the California Air Resources Board (CARB), recently hosted a high-level meeting on the potential of new rules for fleets that would require the use of near-zero and zero-emission vehicle technologies. The meeting featured several of the nation’s largest fleets, including J.B. Hunt, PepsiCo, FedEx, UPS, Sysco and TRSA. Truck manufacturers were represented by General Motors, Ford, Toyota, Daimler, Navistar, PACCAR, Tesla, Motiv and Volvo.

J. Phillip Holloman, president and COO at Cintas Corp., Mason, OH, recently informed the company of his intention to retire, effective July 31, according to a news release.

Martin Kannegiesser welcomed guests to an informal dinner following a full-day spent touring the latest product innovations at the Kannegiesser Expo 2018, held from June 3-9 in Bad Salzuflen, Germany. Nearly 2,000 linen, uniform and facility services professionals from more than 55 countries attended the Expo, which focused on integrated solutions.
