DOL Rescinds Union-Backed ‘Persuader Rule’

The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) recently announced its full repeal of the Obama administration’s “persuader” rule that it introduced two years ago. The rescission, which was formally published in the Federal Register on July 18, will take effect 30 days after publication. TRSA and other industry groups affiliated with the Citizens for a Democratic Workforce (CDW) strongly supported this move by the DOL.

WPL Announces Scholarship Recipients

Keilin Velasquez and Johanna Coronel, both children of White Plains Linen (WPL) employees, recently won the White Plains Linen Family Scholarship, a recognition of both academic performance and community service. The program drew 15 applications accompanied by an essay describing the students’ greatest achievement, for the two $2,500 awards. A greater importance placed on values led to Velasquez and Coronel earning the top prizes, according to a news release.

TRSA Mobilizing CA Leg-Con for August

TRSA members with operations or business interests in California are strongly encouraged to join with colleagues for a legislative outreach effort set for next month in Sacramento. The TRSA program, slated for Aug. 14-15, will provide attendees with an opportunity to learn how two legislative initiatives facing the California General Assembly will impact their businesses. They’ll also get advice on how to apply for a state grant to upgrade delivery trucks to meet low-emission standards.

Clean 2019 Opens Exhibit Sales, Housing

Exhibit sales are open to all companies for Clean 2019, the linen, uniform and facility services industry’s premier trade show that will be held at the New Orleans Morial Convention Center on June 20-23, 2019. Additionally, hotel reservations for the show are open through Connections Housing, the official housing agency for Clean 2019, according to a news release.

Hygienically Clean e-Learning: Summer Special!

TRSA recently announced reduced pricing for its e-Learning course, Producing Hygienically Clean Textiles. Now for a limited time, the course will cost $35 for employees of TRSA member companies, as well as nonmembers, through Aug. 31.

Peter Pano – Laundry Whiz & ‘Great Guy’ Passes On

In early July, the linen, uniform and facility services industry lost longtime consultant Peter Pano, a man whose career spanned nearly 60 years of counseling operators and playing a leading role in several supplier companies, as well as at TRSA. He was 97 years old.

TRSAPAC Fly-In: DCCC, NRCC and USDOT Visits

TRSA’s Government Relations Department facilitated several meetings for TRSA members that included both the Democratic and Republican Party campaign arms, as well as several high-ranking officials at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

UniFirst Unveils Corporate Support Services Center

UniFirst Corp., Wilmington, MA, recently opened a 34,000-square-foot Corporate Support Services Center that represents a vision of the company’s late President and CEO Ron Croatti, according to a news release. Croatti passed away last year.
