OSHA Recognizes Cintas in Springdale, AR, for Safety

Cintas Corp.’s Springdale, AR, location recently received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the U.S. Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA). The announcement took place during a special ceremony at the Cintas’ facility at 580 North Monitor Road in Springdale, according to news reports.

ARCO/Murray Breaks Ground on New Hospitality Laundry

TRSA associate member ARCO/Murray, Downers Grove, IL, recently broke ground on a 35,000-square-foot hospitality laundry build-out for Westgate Resorts in Orlando, FL. Construction began in December 2018 and will finish in April. The new facility will replace two older on-premise laundries, and provide improved productivity and additional capacity for future growth, according to a news release.

Elis Acquires Carpeting Entrémattor in Sweden

Elis, an international provider of textile, hygiene and facility services based in Saint-Cloud, France, recently announced an agreement to acquire 100% of Carpeting Entrémattor i Stockholm AB (Carpeting Entrémattor) in Sweden. The closing of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory conditions and is expected to occur before the end of the first quarter of 2019, according to a news release.

Texas Tax Reform Push – Feb. 21 Conference Call Set

TRSA is leading an effort on behalf of commercial laundries to amend the Texas franchise tax to include uniform and linen rental companies. If TRSA wins this battle it will save operators money by lowering the industry’s franchise tax rate from .75% to .35%.

Clarus Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Clarus Linen Systems, Buffalo, NY, recently filed under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Law, according to news reports. Chapter 11 allows a company to reorganize under the court’s supervision while being protected from creditors.

Cintas, Marriott Team Up on Garment Recycling

Cintas Corp. recently announced a new garment program with JW Marriott hotels that includes an apparel collection that employees across 51 properties will wear. In addition, when those garments are ready for retirement, those properties that are in the U.S. also will participate in an effort to recycle that clothing through a program managed by Cintas.
