Facility Audits
APPI Energy works closely with facility audit experts who provide technical and engineering resources to analyze and implement programs that reduce energy demand. Such audits examine ways to:
- Modernize old systems and equipment
- Improve the environment within the facility
- Improve the quality of environmental emissions
- Increase efficiencies
Money-saving alternatives recommended following this audit may include HVAC and lighting upgrades, additional use of variable frequency drives, energy management systems, utility monitoring, peak load scheduling, insulating, duty cycling and co-generation.

Demand Management
A firm corporate commitment to electricity conservation can result in payments to your company for such efficiency. Through APPI Energy, you can find the perfect match for your operation with a curtailment service provider to deliver demand response (DR) program income to you. On hot summer days when electricity prices and loads are high, DR programs make payments to utility customers like you who voluntarily reduce their consumption. You do so by shutting down equipment, adjusting down or off your lighting or HVAC, or operating on-site generators.

What is Demand Response?
Demand response refers to balancing the demand on power grids by encouraging customers to shift electricity demand to times when electricity is more plentiful or other demand is lower, typically through prices or monetary incentives.
What is Demand Management?
Understanding demand charges, what makes up peak demand, and avoiding ‘coincidental peaks’.
Demand Management
- Each ISO has a variation of demand response programs and demand management opportunities.
- ERCOT: Emergency Response Service (ERS) & Peak Saver
- PJM Emergency Load Response Program & Sync Reserve
- Operating or Sync Reserves (MISO, PJM, NYISO, NEISO)
- California is very dependent on utility and location
Benefits Include:
- Decreased energy costs and demand charges
- Financially lucrative
- Stability of the power grid
Green Energy
APPI Energy clients can add Green Energy as part of any purchase strategy. In deregulated competitive electricity states, it can be included in a standard RFP, in increments of 10, 25, 50 or 100 percent. Often, 10 percent Green can be added with little to no price premium.
For clients already within procurement agreements or in non-deregulated electricity states, the purchase of renewable energy certificates (RECs) can provide green energy. RECs represent the environmental attributes that are created when electricity is generated using renewable sources such as wind, solar, or hydro. Pricing is based on several factors including type and location of energy and market supply and demand.
