HCSC President & CEO to Retire; Board Names Successor

The Board of Directors of Hospital Central Services Inc. (HCSC), and its affiliates, recently announced that Peter Castagna will retire at the end of the calendar year. Rami Nemeh, currently the vice president and COO of the Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) has been named president & CEO of HCSC and its affiliates including MKBC. Nemeh will begin his new role on Jan. 1, 2025.

HLS Celebrates its 50th Anniversary

HLS Linen Services, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, recently marked its 50th anniversary in business. Since 1974, HLS has grown from a regional hospital laundry service processing 4 million lbs. per year to where the company is today, operating two facilities totaling 249,000 square feet and shipping nearly 75 million lbs. of laundry across Ontario and with more than 600 employees.

Alsco Adds Solar Power to Honolulu Mixed Laundry Plant

California EPR Legislation Becomes Law with Industry Exclusion

On Sept. 28, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed into law SB 707, The Responsible Textile Recovery Act of 2024, establishing the first Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program in the U.S. for textiles. TRSA successfully lobbied for an amendment to this legislation that excludes the rental side of the linen, uniform and facility services industry.
