Position Overview: The Advocacy Manager supports major portions of TRSA’s work to advocate for the linen, uniform and facility services industry at all levels of government. This entails both administrative and substantive work supporting TRSA’s Advocacy department. This position is full-time and in-person.
The Manager will support TRSA initiatives to advocate for the industry at all government levels and advance the industry’s legislative, regulatory, grassroots, and political agenda. This includes day-to-day oversight of fundraising, disbursements, compliance issues related to TRSA’s political action committee (TRSAPAC), development and execution of TRSA’s federal and state lobbying campaigns, and the Association’s federal and state Legislative Days.
The Manager will be responsible for monitoring policy proposals at both the federal and state levels with the potential to affect the industry. Doing so may require providing updates to members accordingly, preparing grassroots materials, and carrying out advocacy activities at the state level.
Other duties as assigned will include administrative support for TRSA’s Vice President of Government Relations and may also include industry research, attending congressional hearings, congressional fundraisers, supporting TRSA events, speaking at TRSA events, and generally supporting the goals of the Association.
The Advocacy Manager reports directly to TRSA’s Vice President of Government Relations.
Travel: Travel will be required approx. 20%.

Key Responsibilities:
Supports Vice President of Government Relations in Advocacy – Administrative, Lobbying, Grassroots and TRSAPAC
• Assists in developing and executing the federal and state legislative priorities of the Association
• Acts as a registered lobbyist advancing TRSA’s top policies on Capitol Hill and educating Congress and the Administration on the linen, uniform and facility services industry
• Represents TRSA members at political fundraisers for Members of Congress
• Drafts member communications on legislative and regulatory issues i.e. Issue Briefs, Textile Services and Textile Weekly articles
• Assists in the execution of federal and state grassroots advocacy campaigns and events, including TRSA’s Federal and State Legislative Conferences.
• Maintains up-to-date records of TRSAPAC’s fundraising and disbursements
• Provides regular and ad hoc TRSAPAC reports to TRSA staff and Board
• Acts as a liaison to the Accounting Department to ensure that TRSAPAC maintains complete and accurate records and that contributions and disbursements are processed in a timely manner
• Assists in the drafting and disseminating of TRSAPAC member solicitations
• Prepares periodic federal disclosure filings relating to lobbying activities and political fundraising
• Act as Staff Liaison for assigned committee
• Additional Administrative Duties include: Updating Office Advocacy Matrix, maintaining Advocacy website, contributing to Textile Services Magazine Policy Moves
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, law, or a related field.
• Direct legislative experience, including research, drafting legislative language, and the ability to quickly grasp legislative text.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legislative tracking tools.
• Demonstrated commitment to [industry/sector] issues is a plus.
