SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates activities of production, customer service, office, distribution and maintenance departments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Direct and develop subordinates to: plan, coordinate and direct workflow between and within their departments, to meet company quality and efficiency standards. Work independently with direct reports to increase management and laundry processing knowledge. Develop successor.
• Using the performance improvement process, work with cross-functional teams, to develop or revise standard operational and working practices to increase quality and plant effectiveness.
• Maintain product quality and maximize merchandise conservation by monitoring weekly linen injections, the quality assurance program, and soil return rates.
• Develop and manage department budgets.
• Work with the H.R. Department to:

  • Maintain a safe operation of the production department, promoting a high degree of safety awareness among all employees.
  • Maintain a high level of morale among all employees by reducing absenteeism, turnover rate and grievances.
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, and Company policies that effect production operations.
  • Maintain the security of the production department, employees, merchandise, equipment and buildings.

• Develop personal leadership, coaching, and industry knowledge, through continuing education.
• Must be able to travel to attend conferences, training and other events as required in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position. .
• Conduct interviews, supervise, train, schedule, counsel and evaluate staff.
• Conduct budgeting, purchasing, payroll and inventory control.
• Handle concerns and complaints from customers.
• Understand and interpret financial statements such as P&L and balance sheet.
• Supervise department heads such as maintenance chief, operations manager, office manager and customer service.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including but not limited to those set by IDEM (Indiana Department of Environmental Management) and the City of Hammond. Oversee pollution controls, air quality standards, and other environmental performance metrics, ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Demonstrate proficiency in basic computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) for communication, reporting, and operational management. Familiarity with industry-specific software is a plus.
• Collaborate effectively with vendors and suppliers to negotiate contracts, manage procurement, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services that meet operational needs and quality standards. Build and maintain strong relationships to support long-term business objectives.
• Analyze operational data and metrics to identify trends, improve efficiency, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to align production, distribution, and operational objectives with the company’s long-term goals.
• Cultivate leadership talent by mentoring and training team members, fostering a culture of growth and continuous development to prepare high-potential employees for future management roles

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field (preferred) or a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in a similar role, including demonstrated leadership in a production or industrial setting.
