Alsco Inc. recently held a grand-opening ceremony for its new 96,000-square-foot plant in Kyle, TX, according to a news release.

The plant opening on Jan. 23 in Kyle drew a large group of local dignitaries and Alsco officials, including Kyle Mayor Travis Mitchell, City Manager Scott Sellers, and Alsco co-CEOs Robert and Kevin Steiner; plus members of the company’s board of directors.

“We are excited for this opportunity to partner with the Kyle community,” said General Manager Anthony Wessels. “We believe it’s an exciting opportunity for both Alsco and Kyle to see economic growth.

While Salt Lake City-based Alsco has operated in the Austin area for more than 25 years, the new facility, located about 22 miles southwest of the state capital, will help generate growth in this community by, among other things, providing 160 full-time jobs to area residents.

Based on a nine-acre plot of land, the plant is expected to process 100,000 lbs. of linens and uniforms per day with 100% accuracy, the release said. The plant also employs the latest water treatment technology with a filtration system from Norchem Corp. that’s expected to enable the plant to reuse roughly 70% of its water, while meeting all of the city’s wastewater treatment standards.

After the decision was made to locate the plant in Kyle, local officials invited Alsco to participate in the Texas Capital Fund. This fund created an additional opportunity for the city to receive grant money if Alsco met certain conditions. These requirements included spending a certain amount of money on capital improvements and hiring a specific number of employees. Because Alsco met these benchmarks, the city received $1 million in grant money.

Alsco is contributing $200,000 to the City of Kyle for use in making improvements to infrastructure, such as at the wastewater treatment plant. Click here for details.
