Alsco Holds Grand Opening in Lanham, MD

Alsco Inc. recently unveiled its new branch in Lanham, MD. Several company officials were on hand at the event, including Alsco Co-CEOs Bob and Kevin Steiner; Vice President of North American Operations Steve Larson; CFO Jim Kearns; Director of Sales and Marketing Jim Divers; as well as Lanham General Manager Ludovico Oriente, and the local management and staff of the Lanham plant. Commerce Secretary Mike Gill from the Maryland Department of Commerce, Prince George’s County Economic Development Corp. President & CEO Jim Coleman and Maryland State Delegate Alonzo T. Washington (D-Dist. 22) all spoke at the ribbon cutting.

Alsco Co-CEO Kevin Steiner also addressed the guests at the event. "To members of the community here, I want to introduce Alsco to you. …" he said. "Our business model is built on long-term relationships with customers, employees and vendors. We want to treat our employees fairly. We want to treat our customers fairly, both with respect to the service we provide and what we charge. We want to be a good corporate citizen in the communities in which we operate. We are in this business for the long-term." 

The company has been providing service to businesses in the Maryland/Washington, DC, area since 1952, originally based out of a facility on Lamont Street in Washington, DC. According to Oriente, “The transition from the Lamont location to our new facility took only three days, and not a single customer delivery was missed.”

The new plant will provide laundry services to more than 1,700 Alsco customers in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Northern Virginia. The facility is 84,000 square feet and processes more than 125,000 lbs. of laundry each day. The plant currently employs 225 individuals. Attendees of the event received guided tours of the new facility.

“I am excited to welcome Alsco to District 22 in Prince George’s County!” Washington said. “Their long history of providing premier services in the textile services industry will only serve to benefit the businesses and residents of our county.”
