AmeriPride Services Inc. recently made a $5,000 donation to the Odessa, TX, police department to outfit the force’s canine’s with bulletproof vests, according to media reports.

AmeriPride donated the money to outfit the dogs, as well as buy new training equipment, the report said. The company first saw the need for the donation on a local news report.

“We got a lot of calls,” said Lt. Carey Sampson of the Odessa Police Department. “Not just business people but private citizens that were wanting to help us out. It was surprising. We were getting calls within 10-15 minutes from when the story came out.”
