AmeriPride Pilots Solar Energy System
AmeriPride Services Inc., recently teamed up with Solect Energy Development to pilot a 210-kW solar photovoltaic energy system at its Worcester, MA, facility, according to a news report. The 840-panel system is expected to reduce electricity use by 25%.
The company can earn state and federal financial and tax incentives, such as Solar Renewable Energy Certificates (SRECs). These certificates are based on the amount of solar energy AmeriPride’s system generates. Massachusetts’ utility companies then purchase the SRECs to meet the state-mandated percentage of power coming from renewable energy sources.
