Antitrust: Expect Strict Enforcement
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) recently reported another banner year in collecting antitrust fines and sending corporate executives to jail.
In the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2014, the DOJ collected $1,861 billion in criminal fines and obtained jail sentences for 21 corporate executives. The average jail sentence was 26 months. Worldwide antitrust enforcement results in billions of dollars of fines every year, followed by more billions in treble damage settlements.
