BLC Cambodia Textiles Exec Passes On
Colman Barrett O’Connell, 52, the general manager of Cambodian Textiles Worldwide (CTW), a subsidiary of blc TEXTILES, Mineola, NY, passed away on Aug. 28 after a brief illness. O’Connell oversaw manufacturing operations in Cambodia as well as strategic customer relationships.
In addition to his work for CTW in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, O’Connell was active on the local scene. His outreach efforts included helping a Cambodian orphanage obtain clothing, supplies, equipment and clean drinking water for the children living there. He also enjoyed showing visitors around Cambodian historic sites, including ancient temples.
O’Connell commuted regularly between Cambodia and his home in Inman, SC, to be with his family. Survivors include his wife Anne, sons Brendan and Daniel, a daughter, Christine; parents Daniel and Aline O’Connell; sisters Siobhan Scro and Caitlin O’Connell-Rodwell; and a brother, Daniel.
Born in New York, O’Connell grew up in Wyckoff, NJ. He graduated from Belmont Abbey College and received a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. Previously, he worked for Milliken & Co. and traveled worldwide as part of his textile industry duties.
O’Connell also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishioner at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg.
