U.S. Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA) recently toured AmeriPride Services Inc.’s Sacramento plant and praised the facility’s commitment to environmental sustainability, according to a news release.

“It was great to spend some time with the AmeriPride team and learn more about their efforts to implement and utilize green technologies and best practices in sustainability,” said Rep. Bera of his March 31 visit to the plant. “They demonstrate a true commitment to responsible business practices in their production and delivery operations.”

AmeriPride/Sacramento General Manager Doug Henderson returned the compliment, thanking the congressman for his interest in the company’s efforts to shrink its carbon footprint. “We were pleased to host Congressman Bera and proud of the recognition we’re receiving for our efforts in environmental sustainability,” he said. “We’re raising the bar for clean operations in the industry and it’s nice to know that people are starting to take notice.”

Others who are aware of AmeriPride/Sacramento’s operation are city officials who recently honored the plant as the Sacramento Area Sustainable Business of the Year. The Business and Environmental Resource Center (BERC) also recognized AmeriPride/Sacramento for Transportation and Air Quality, while Sacramento city and county officials, along with the California state Senate and the U.S. Congress have cited the company for its overall focus on sustainability.

AmeriPride/Sacramento has made some recent improvements, including the addition of environmentally friendly (NPE-free) detergents and the use of low nitrous-oxide equipment, including boilers, hot water heaters and dryers. Other upgrades have included fuel-efficient vehicles, telematics technology for optimizing routes and automatic shut-offs to reduce truck idling.
