Cintas Gets AL Workplace Safety Award
Cintas Corp., Mason, OH, recently announced that its uniform rental facility in Tuscaloosa, AL, received the Workplace Safety Award of Superior Achievement from the state of Alabama. The award recognizes Cintas for continuous operation without a lost-time injury for two consecutive years, according to a news release.
Fitzgerald Washington, commissioner from the Alabama Department of Labor, was on hand to present the award. Washington talked about the importance of safety in the workplace and commended Cintas’ employee-partners. “I was particularly impressed with the family environment exhibited by the Cintas’ staff,” Washington said. “To reach this accomplishment demonstrates a strong commitment of making employee safety a priority, and for that you and your staff are deserving of this award.”
Cintas has had a presence in the Tuscaloosa market since 1989 when the company acquired Rental Uniform Supply Inc. The location was completely destroyed by a tornado in 2011 (see Textile Rental, August 2011, page 26), and rebuilt in 2013. Today, the Tuscaloosa facility employs 47 people and services more than 2,000 customers, according to the release.
“Cintas has a culture of teamwork, and safety is no different,” said Matt Feller, general manager, Cintas. “Our employee-partners deserve all of the recognition for this honor. They make decisions every day that help prevent injuries. We are proud of our record and continue to look for ways to make Cintas a great place to work.”
