Cintas Corp. recently announced that its uniform rental location in Austin, TX, received Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The announcement took place during a special ceremony at Cintas, located at 25 Cypress Boulevard, Round Rock, TX. State Sen. Charles Schwertner (R-District 5) and Wayne Noll, senior lecturer at Texas State University, attended the event, according to a news release.

VPP Star is OSHA’s highest recognition for the practice of and commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health. VPP Star certification is earned by businesses that meet rigorous safety requirements and can prove that the elimination of injuries is a key component of a company’s culture.

“A safe workplace is crucial to the success of our entire facility,” said Diego Nucete, general manager at Cintas in Austin. “We’re proud to accomplish VPP Star certification and remain committed to sustaining this high level of safety performance.”

Approximately 165 employee-partners work at the uniform rental facility in Austin. The location officially began the VPP process in 2015, and received mentorship from safety leaders at CFAN, a 50/50 joint venture between GE Aviation and SNECMA of France. Don Vigil, environmental, health and safety manager at CFAN, also attended the ceremony.

Since 2011, a total of 70 Cintas facilities have been recognized under the VPP program. Cintas is currently ranked second in the nation for companies with VPP sites. Cintas has approximately 250 facilities worldwide actively pursuing VPP recognition by OSHA or the equivalent under a similar certifying body. This includes operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Honduras.
