Cintas Receives Gold Award in San Diego

The Encina Wastewater Authority (EWA), the water-treatment agency serving a 125-mile area of North San Diego County, CA, recently recognized Cintas Corp. with a “Gold Award,” as one of nine local companies that achieved 100% compliance with all wastewater-discharge permit requirements in 2015.

Businesses that earn this distinction must meet stringent discharge limits and undergo unannounced inspections and sampling by EWA personnel to verify compliance, according to a news release.

The Gold Award gives EWA an opportunity to recognize the hard work and leadership of local companies, the release said. It’s one of a number of programs that the agency has implemented to advance its goals of protecting the Pacific Ocean and ensuring that EWA is able to reuse the plants’ treated wastewater.
