Cintas Corp. recently received the Green Giving Seal for responsible and exceptional corporate environmental stewardship from Matthew 25: Ministries. Cintas, Mason, OH, works year-round with this charitable organization to rescue, recycle, reuse and repurpose about 15 million lbs. of excess products and redistribute them to partner groups in the Greater Cincinnati area, across the U.S. and worldwide, according to a news release.

Matthew 25, which is highly ranked on Forbes' list of the Most Efficient Large Charities in the U.S., processes all donations at its 170,000-square-foot facility. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), American industrial facilities produce about 7.6 billion tons of industrial solid waste each year. Responsibly recycled products from corporate donors like Cintas helped more than 20 million people in 2014, in addition to protecting the environment by reducing solid waste bound for landfills.

In addition to its green giving, Cintas has supported other elements of Matthew 25: Ministries’ humanitarian aid programs, the release said. One example is the Cintas Mobile Disaster Relief Vehicle, which has been deployed since 2013 during weather events. The truck distributes disaster-relief goods, including safety glasses, gloves and masks, as well as tarps, blankets, cases of water, baby supplies, personal-care kits and cleaning products.

Cintas received a certificate and the opportunity to display Matthew 25’s Green Giving Seal for meeting the group’s program guidelines. Highlights of the charity’s standards, which are designed to encourage and celebrate environmental responsibility, include donating products multiple times per year and donating a significant amount based on a company’s size, location or capacity. Companies are also encouraged to demonstrate a commitment to minimizing waste and donating surplus goods for use in humanitarian work. Such actions demonstrate outstanding corporate citizenship.
