WDTN Channel 2 and the CW Network in Dayton, OH, recently helped kick off the 32nd annual Coats for Kids campaign in southwest Ohio. Serving as one of several sponsors of the event is Cintas Corp., who will clean and deliver the coats free of charge. The coats will then be distributed to children in need by the local TV stations.

“As the weather gets a little colder, we’re reminded of the need that still exists in the Miami Valley (OH),” said Joe Abouzeid, president and general manager of WDTN & Dayton’s CW. “The fact is there are kids in our community who have a very basic need. We’re proud to work with our sponsors and partners to do whatever we can to help.”

Since its inception, the Coats for Kids campaign has donated more than 490,000 coats and winter accessories to less fortunate children and adults throughout the Miami Valley, according to a news release. The campaign will run through Oct. 15, and Dayton-area residents can participate by taking any new or washable coat that they or their children may have outgrown to any sponsor location and place them in the Coats for Kids collection barrel.
