TRSA hosted a general education session on June 22 titled “Tips for Entering the Commercial Laundry Industry.” The panel discussion was one of six general education sessions held at Clean ’19.

The panel presentation featured Dan Campbell, president, Wash Around the Clock; Lou D’Autorio, director of operations, The Laundry Co.; Julia Pooler, president; and Keith Pooler, vice president, Sacramento Laundry Co. The hour-long discussion was moderated by JR Ryan, president, Meese.

The following topics – and more – were covered during the session:

  • Pitfalls to avoid when transitioning from dry cleaning to commercial laundry.
  • Mistakes to watch for when moving from a coin-op to a commercial laundry.
  • How to finance growth from a coin-op to a commercial laundry.
  • Advantages and disadvantages of growing through acquisitions.

Members of the crowd asked several questions of the panelists to close the discussion. The general education sessions took place in the Great Hall at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The larger space offered a greater number of attendees the opportunity to sit in on these topics. In addition to the panel discussion, other general-session topics included:

  • Social Media Marketing and Measurement
  • Workplace Risks of Legalized Marijuana
  • Helpful Business Apps
  • Secrets to Chick-fil-A Customer Service
  • Sexual Harassment Prevention
