CLEAN, Maidenhead, Berkshire, England, recently invested £500k ($658k) into its site on Beaumont Road in Banbury to cover equipment upgrades and workforce expansion, according to a news release.

The company, which was acquired by Alsco in May 2018, carried out further upgrades to equipment at the laundry following the recent introduction of a Kannegiesser press, washer/extractors and a new linen sorting system.

To support the equipment improvements, CLEAN Banbury is planning to increase the size of its engineering team by a third. It plans to employ both skilled staff and offer apprenticeships. The apprenticeships will be open to young professionals and will support CLEAN’s aim to draw new talent to both the business and the laundry industry.

“Our Banbury laundry plays a pivotal role in our continued success story, so it is essential that we continue to invest in the site and our workforce to support and grow the business,” said CLEAN CEO Jason Miller. “New equipment increases quality for our customers and has positive benefits for staff. We are also pleased to be in the position of expanding our workforce, offering new jobs to those in the region and opening up the industry to newcomers through apprenticeships.”

The Banbury laundry opened in 1997 and supplies bed linen, towels and table linen to businesses in South East England and the Midlands, including Center Parcs, Premier Inn hotels in the region and Club Quarters, plus many others.
