Congressman Tours UniFirst Plant in Texas
U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX) recently visited a UniFirst Corp. plant in Corpus Christi, TX. The Nov. 23 tour was the congressman’s first experience inside a commercial laundry. Rep. Farenthold said he had wondered about this particular facility for some time. “I passed by here so many times imagining what went on behind these walls. Now I know, and it’s great and important work!” he said.
General Manager Karl Granato and Production Manager Ruben Castillo led the tour. It began with an overview of the company and the industry, and ended with an employee town hall meeting and a photo session with the congressman and the entire staff. The plant executives discussed POTW issues and the process of cleaning and finishing industrial garments.
Rep. Farenthold, who serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, also discussed the highway bill that Congress approved on Dec. 3 and sent to President Barack Obama for his signature. The president is expected to sign the $305 billion measure, formally known as the Highway Transportation and Funding Act of 2015.
