Crown Uniform Wins MA Economic-Impact Award
MassEcon, a nonprofit entity, recently recognized Crown Uniform and Linen Service, Brockton, MA, for its “outstanding contributions to the Massachusetts economy.” The company won a bronze medal in the southeast region of MassEcon’s 11th annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards. Crown Uniform was recognized, along with 15 other firms. MassEcon is a nonpartisan organization that serves as the state’s private-sector partner in promoting Massachusetts as the premier choice for business growth.
In one of Brockton’s largest industrial deals in decades, Crown Uniform started construction in 2013 on a 94,000-square-foot plant. They invested $18 million at the site of the former Howard Johnson manufacturing plant and Fairfield Farms Kitchen.The company then closed its plants in South Boston and Fall River and brought its 100 employees to Brockton to work with $7 million worth of newly purchased, state-of-the-art laundry equipment.
President George Spilios, who took the reins after his father Chris Spilios passed away on March 30, oversaw completion of the project that captured the state economic-impact award. He said the company will be able to double its capacity in the near future using its current footprint, according to a local news report,
