Doritex Hosts Key Voice on Congestion Pricing

Doritex Corp. recently hosted State Sen. Patrick Gallivan (R-NY) for an employee town hall meeting as well as a plant tour. During the tour, State Sen. Gallivan saw first-hand how an industrial laundry plant operates and how the legislation and regulation that comes out of Albany impacts the linen, uniform and facility services industry.

One such issue which is of significant concern to the industry, is that of congestion pricing. Congestion pricing would impose a $25 per-trip charge on delivery vehicles entering Manhattan, while limiting the time of delivery. This measure would have a significant impact on the linen, uniform and facility services industry in New York City. Due to the budgetary nature of the issue, the State Senate and State Assembly have jurisdiction over this issue.

Jim Doro, President of Doritex, Alden, NY, discussed the issue with State Sen. Gallivan, who expressed his opposition to the proposal.

At one point in the visit State Sen. Gallivan met with the staff of Doritex. His remarks focused on how his position as a state senator impacts the everyday lives of New Yorkers and more specifically his constituents. He mentioned that the upcoming elections will determine what the legislative priorities of the state legislature will be.
