Fishers Furthers RFID Research
Fishers Services, Fife, Scotland, recently launched a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Strathclyde to help the company capitalize on its radio frequency identification (RFID) enabled bed linen and towels, according to a news release.
Fishers currently fits all of its top-of-the-line “ZHEN” bed linen and towels with RFID technology. This enables both Fishers and its customers to keep track of all textiles. The KTP project goal is to enable Fishers to:
- Capitalize on the analysis and interpretation of the “big data” generated by its RFID-tagged bed linen and towels
- Improve Fishers’ strategic planning skills around textile purchasing
- Improve its specification of bed linen and towel characteristics from suppliers
- Help the company develop the intellectual property (IP) related to its ZHEN line of textiles
The two-year project is being co-funded by a grant from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Scottish Funding Council. The UK’s KTP program is run by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK. To read the full release, click here.
