G&K Fund Drive Nets $320K for United Way
During G&K Services’ annual United Way workplace campaign, employees across four locations (Minneapolis and St. Paul) recently pledged nearly $153,000, according to a news release.
“G&K’s employees continue to make a positive impact in our community, through both their financial generosity and their volunteerism throughout the year,” said G&K’s CIO Ian Davis, who is also the executive sponsor of the company’s 2014 workplace campaign.
In addition, for every dollar promised, the G&K Services Foundation agreed to match 110%. That brings G&K’s total contribution to the Greater Twin Cities United Way to more than $320,000, a 15% increase over last year. “G&K’s employees continue to make a positive impact in our community, through both their financial generosity and their volunteerism throughout the year.”
With more than a half-million people in the metro area Greater Twin Cities metro area living on an annual income of $44,100 or less for a family of four, according to United Way Workplace VP Bob Poferl, the funds will be put toward “programming that aids children and families in getting ahead so our entire community can thrive.”
G&K’s annual United Way campaign promotes the company’s goal of “building communities that work,” supporting charitable organizations and non-profits that help educate, train, and clothe the workforces in the communities where the company does business.
