Halifax Linen Service recently started a $6 million automation process in its Roanoke Rapids, NC, facility. The end goal of the project is to capitalize on years of RFID experience with customers and truly bring the technology to the company’s production floor, according to Halifax Linen President Preston McElheney.

The upgrades will include a fully automated process to scan, wrap, barcode and distribute product to the load area for routes. “We have worked over the past four years traveling the globe to determine the right fit of equipment for this process,” McElheney said.

Vendors include JENSEN Denmark/USA for all clean production equipment, Pellerin Milnor for wash line automation, Positek RFID for all RFID scanning and Alliant Systems route accounting. “Our resulting process will be quality driven to deliver the best product our customers deserve,” McElheney said. “We hope to be fully operational by April 1.”
