Roger Harris, an at-large member of the McKinney (TX) City Council and president of TRSA-member Metro Linen Service, has decided not to seek re-election to the city council, according to local news reports.

Harris said he is stepping down because of his business interests.Metro Linen has grown by more than 14% annually, he said. “Our company has some huge opportunities ahead of it,” Harris said. “We have already begun feasibility studies to build additional production facilities.I didn’t want to be so burdened with business work that I neglected either business or council.”

Harris noted that he might get involved in government again in the future. He will continue to serve as the Collin County representative to the North Central Texas Workforce Development Board as vice chairman “and possibly chairman next year.”
